Volunteering

Waynesville Rural is always looking for volunteers to help because even though we have paid firefighters, the needs of our community continue to grow. Our department still depends on our volunteers for help. We currently have 25 volunteers who do a great service to their community. All new volunteers will be required attend our fire academy, as well as participate in Tuesday night training.

Every Tuesday night at 7:00pm Waynesville Rural holds a fire meeting in which the volunteers receive training on the equipment.

Training

Volunteers of Waynesville Rural will be expected to take Firefighter I and II classes, which include:

  • Apparatus training
  • SCBA training
  • First responders classes
  • Rope and knot tying classes
  • Fire chemistry
  • Ladder practices
  • Rescue techniques
